"With an abundance of wit, precision and some very simple devices for creating big effects this “making of” deconstructed radio play allows the audience to create a wonderful kind of cinema in their own minds ... Wonderful!" Nürnberger Nachrichten, February 15, 2008
"With their simulated live recording of a radio-play, the renowned Schaffhausen based group, “Theater Sgaramusch” brought a great atmosphere to this Festival."

"Theatre Sgaramusch’s new piece is an amusing theatrical radio play for children and adults. The bitter fight for the English throne between Elisabeth and Mary Stuart is played out live and includes galloping coconut-shells and a storm in a bucket. Of course at the end Mary loses her head. Or was it just an apple? This special drama has reduced the story to just its essential elements. Maybe not entirely accurate but with a great deal of humour and intrigue this complicated story of power and betrayal is told in such a manner that everyone can understand." schaffhauser az - September 7, 2006
A play about love, power, disease, and intrigue.
The majestical story of Mary Queen of Scots and Elisabeth Queen of England, for both, young and old.
Around 500 years ago, it was no party being a Queen. Times were hard and it was easy to loose your head. Mary Stuart was one, after all, who lost hers. Theatre Sgaramusch shows how this came to happen. The gruesome tale of two Queens of neighbouring countries with all its twists and turns is toled "tongue in cheek" so you won't always believe all you hear. The setting is a sound studio. There are mircrophones, recording machines and a whole lot of fancy items which are used to produce amazingly strange sounds. All of them to create an atmosphere in which the story can take place. And for coronation and riots even the audience is invited to join in.
"Queen" is about two girls becoming queen and trying by all means possible to keep their heads on their shoulders and yet let the wishes of their hearts be fulfilled. Not always meaning to be mean but still being it.
